Pros
Reasons to visit in July
- ✓TRON Lightcycle / Run and Space Mountain both run into late evening, giving you a cooler window to ride after sunset.
- ✓it's a small world and Mickey's PhilharMagic offer air-conditioned relief that most parks don't pack this densely in one land.
- ✓Happily Ever After and Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away close the night out even when daytime crowds have been rough.
- ✓Splash relief at Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak Station in Storybook Circus is a genuine cooldown option unique to this park.
- ✓The Walt Disney World Railroad and Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover give you shaded, seated loops to reset during the hottest hours.
Cons
Things to watch out for
- ✕Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run routinely post 65-90 minute waits by midday and evening in July.
- ✕Frontierland and Adventureland queues sit in direct sun with little shade, making midday standby lines miserable in July heat.
- ✕Afternoon thunderstorms are common enough this month to interrupt Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and outdoor queues without warning.
- ✕The park is at its most crowded month of the year, so rope drop lines for Peter Pan's Flight and Jungle Cruise form well before official opening.
- ✕Fantasyland's open walkways near the castle offer almost no shade, and July afternoons there feel brutal even standing still.
Pro tip
Rope drop straight to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or TRON Lightcycle / Run by 8:45am, since both climb past an hour within the first hour of opening in July. Ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Jungle Cruise before 10:30am while lines are still manageable, then retreat indoors to it's a small world, Mickey's PhilharMagic, or Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor during the worst heat from noon to 4pm. Save Space Mountain and TRON for after 8pm when the sun drops and waits ease off.
